Record fourth title for Japan

Doha: Japan have won the AFC Asian Cup for the record fourth time.
They won the title for the first time in 1992 after defeating Saudi Arabia 1-0. In 2000, they beat Saudi Arabia again by the same scoreline to keep the title under lock and key.
Four years later, the Samurai Blue clinched the silverware for the third time after a 3-1 victory over East Asian rivals and then hosts China.
Only Iran (1968, 72, 76) and Saudi Arabia (84, 88, 96) have won the title less times than Japan.
